Perla Pardias is a Registered Social Worker with over 13 years of clinical experience working with diverse populations struggling with a wide range of complex mental health issues. She has worked in a variety of settings including academic/university, hospital, community, inpatient and outpatient settings. She holds a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto, with a certificate from the Collaborative Graduate Program in Addiction Studies, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology with Specialized Honours from York University. Perla identifies as Latina and is fluent English and Spanish. Perla specializes in working with adolescents, young adults and adults. She is deeply passionate and devoted to helping individuals achieve healing, peace and connecting to their best self.
Perla is profoundly committed and dedicated to supporting holistic mental health using an eclectic, individualized and evidence-based approach tailored to YOU. Her practice is client-centered, strengths-based, collaborative and empathetic; relying on curiousity, authenticity and genuine caring. Perla believes you are the expert of your own life; having unique insights, wisdom and personal strengths. Perla aims to create a safe space where you will not feel
judged but, rather, unconditionally supported, validated and heard. She believes one size does not fit all as we are all uniquely complex and multi-faceted; hence, her approach is highly customized to you. During sessions, she will always approach you with warmth, kindness, compassion, unconditional positive regard and playfulness. Perla utilizes a biopsychosocial lens to understand how internal/external factors have shaped you and who you want to become. In
every session, she sees you both as active participants who are working together to guide the conversation and approximate your goals.
Perla has significant clinical experience and training working with evidence-based therapies. She has extensive experience providing structured Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) individual and group treatment for mood and anxiety disorders while at CAMH. In addition to CBT and ERP, she has also provided short-term interventions such as same day/single-sessions and solution-focused therapy to address acute mental health concerns during her role at Yorktown Child and Family Centre and the University of Toronto. Additionally, she has delivered structured, intensive DBT individual and group treatment to the ‘hardest to serve youth’ in Canada who had complex mental health and substance use issues, as well as conflict with the law, in an inpatient forensic setting. As an independent contractor, she has also provided mental health and substance use treatment to adults on probation/parole.
Perla works from a trauma-informed, person-centered, harm reduction, anti-oppressive and attachment-based perspective. Perla emphasizes the role of secure, nurturing relationships and understanding attachment patterns in fostering overall well being and resilience. Her focus is holistic healing; you as a whole. Her holistic approach emphasizes the importance of cultural sensitivity and honouring clients’ diverse cultural experiences when working together. She primarily uses and is highly trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing. Her incorporation of evidence- based therapies often includes the application of concrete tools and home practice, as she believes this to be an important part of achieving lasting emotional and behavioural changes. Perla is devoted to providing you with high-quality services in an environment based on respect, safety and a commitment to your well-being.
