Olivia Omoruan

Intern Therapist

Olivia Omoruan is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Toronto with several years of experience supporting individuals navigating trauma, violence, mental health concerns, and significant life challenges. Her background includes providing individual and group counselling to survivors of sexual violence, women, youth, and gender-diverse individuals across community-based and healthcare settings.

Olivia brings an empathetic, trauma-informed, and person-centred approach to therapy. She is committed to creating a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported in exploring their experiences, relationships, and goals. Her practice is also informed by an understanding of how identity, relationships, culture, and broader social circumstances can shape emotional well-being.

Olivia Omoruan is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Toronto completing her clinical training with the Online Therapy Centre. She brings several years of experience in counselling, advocacy, crisis intervention, and community mental health, with particular experience supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and interpersonal violence.

Prior to joining the Online Therapy Centre, Olivia worked as a Sexual Violence Counsellor, providing individual and group counselling to survivors of sexual violence. Her work has included supporting women, youth, and gender-diverse individuals, as well as survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence. Through these experiences, Olivia has developed a strong appreciation for the importance of safety, trust, autonomy, and collaboration within the therapeutic relationship.

Olivia’s approach to therapy is trauma-informed, person-centred, relational, and strengths-based. She recognizes that people’s emotional well-being is shaped not only by their individual experiences, but also by their relationships, identities, communities, and the broader systems in which they live. She strives to understand each client within the context of their unique experiences while recognizing the strengths, knowledge, and resilience they already bring with them.

Olivia supports clients navigating trauma and experiences of abuse, anxiety, stress, relationship and interpersonal concerns, and periods of transition or uncertainty. She is committed to providing culturally responsive and anti-oppressive care that honours each client’s unique identity, experiences, and circumstances. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Olivia works collaboratively with clients to understand what matters most to them and to identify goals that feel meaningful and relevant to their lives.

At the heart of Olivia’s therapeutic approach is the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship can provide an important foundation for healing and growth. She aims to create a compassionate and non-judgmental environment where clients can speak openly, develop greater insight into their experiences and patterns, strengthen coping strategies, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them.

As an intern therapist, Olivia receives ongoing clinical supervision as she continues to develop her therapeutic practice and provide ethical, thoughtful, and compassionate care.
