Patrice Hall-Johnson believes that healing begins when people truly feel seen, heard, and accepted. Her journey into psychotherapy has been shaped by a deep sense of compassion, a commitment to social justice and equity, and more than 15 years of supporting children, youth, adults, and families through life’s challenges. She recognizes that every person has a unique story and considers it a privilege to walk alongside her clients as they discover their strengths, make sense of their experiences, and move toward meaningful and lasting change.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, Patrice built an extensive career in education as an elementary school teacher and later as a professor at both the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College. Throughout her career, she specialized in early learning, special education, and inclusive educational practices, advocating for individuals whose voices were often unheard while creating environments where every learner had the opportunity to thrive. These experiences strengthened her belief that genuine human connection, empathy, and psychological safety are powerful catalysts for healing and growth—a philosophy that continues to guide her therapeutic work today.
Committed to lifelong learning, Patrice has pursued advanced education beyond her clinical training. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). She has also earned a certificate from Yale University in The Science of Well-Being and a certificate from Harvard University in Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching. This diverse educational background has deepened her understanding of the interconnectedness of mental health, physical well-being, resilience, and human flourishing, allowing her to provide holistic, evidence-informed care that considers the whole person while drawing upon her extensive knowledge of child and human development.
Patrice has completed additional professional training in guidance, equity-centred education, and inclusive practice. She has been recognized for her dedication to education and service through honours including the 2023 Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the 2024 Director of Education Commendation. While she is grateful for these recognitions, she believes her greatest privilege has been building meaningful relationships with the individuals, children, and families she has supported throughout her career.
As a therapist, Patrice works with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, ADHD, relationship concerns, stress, burnout, and other personal difficulties. Her therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and grounded in evidence-based practices. She is committed to creating a compassionate and inclusive space where clients feel emotionally safe to be their authentic selves, explore their experiences without judgment, and develop the insight, resilience, and practical tools needed to create lasting change.
Whether someone is navigating a difficult season of life, seeking greater self-understanding, or hoping to cultivate improved mental health and overall well-being, Patrice is honoured to accompany them on their journey. She believes that healing happens through connection and collaboration, and she is committed to helping clients build lives that are more authentic, meaningful, balanced, and fulfilling.
