Tingwei Zhang

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Life can be challenging, and at times it can feel overwhelming. Tingwei offers a warm, compassionate space to explore life’s difficulties, believing that healing happens through connection, growth, and discovering one’s inner strengths.

As a Registered Nurse and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Tingwei draws on over six years of experience in mental health and medical settings, including emergency, youth, and inpatient care. She supports individuals navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, chronic illness, and major life transitions.

Her approach is person-centred and holistic, integrating positive psychology, strengths-based techniques, and mindfulness. As a first-generation immigrant, she brings a culturally sensitive and inclusive lens to her work, helping clients build resilience and find meaning in their experiences.

Life can be challenging, and at times it may feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate. Tingwei understands how experiences of trauma, loss, and life transitions can leave us feeling stuck or unsure of how to move forward. She believes that healing happens through connection, growth, and the discovery of inner strengths — and she’s here to walk alongside you as you navigate your unique journey.

Tingwei brings a compassionate, person-centred approach to therapy, drawing from positive psychology, strengths-based techniques, and holistic perspectives to support your well-being. She believes that while we may not be able to change the past, we can learn to shift how we respond to challenges, limiting their lasting impact and moving forward with greater self-awareness and resilience.

Tingwei is a Registered Nurse and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Her professional background includes experience in a variety of mental health settings, including mental health emergency units, child and youth services, adult inpatient care, and specialized mental health units, where she developed a deep understanding of the complexities of mental health across the lifespan. In her current nursing role in surgical care, she continues to support patients through the emotional and psychological impacts of life-changing diagnoses, surgeries, and rehabilitation transitions.

With over six years of experience in both acute care and long-term care settings, Tingwei has developed a special focus on working with individuals living with chronic health conditions, grief and loss, and challenging life transitions. As a first-generation immigrant, visible minority, and woman from a developing country, she brings a culturally sensitive, inclusive, and anti-oppressive lens to her work. She understands the profound impact that cultural identity, marginalization, and systemic barriers can have on mental health and well-being.

Tingwei would be honoured to walk alongside you in your healing journey — offering support, reflection, and care as you uncover your strengths and find meaning in your experiences.
