Trisha Nelson- CURRENTLY WAITLISTING

Registered Psychotherapist

Trisha Nelson is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) with a background in nursing and a degree in Disability Studies, focusing on trauma and mental health stigma. She has completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Disability Studies and
her Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology. She works with diverse clients, offering them a judgment-free space for exploring issues such as relationships, emotion regulation, self-esteem, body image, trauma, and life changes, using an integrative approach tailored to each individual.
Trisha has worked in various settings, including hospitals, group homes, doctor offices, schools and private practice. Trisha believes in helping clients expand their exploration of self, the world, and possibilities. By raising awareness and collaborating, she aims to better equip you to handle whatever comes your way.

Trisha’s approach to trauma is rooted in creating a safe and nurturing environment where clients can explore and heal from past experiences. Trisha utilizes evidence-based techniques tailored to each individual, fostering resilience and empowerment through trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, and cognitive processing therapy. She believes in addressing trauma not only as a past event but as a catalyst for personal growth and transformation.

In her work on self-esteem, Trisha provides a supportive space for clients to examine and challenge negative self-perceptions. Drawing from her diverse clinical experience, she employs techniques from emotion focused therapy (EFT) and psychodynamic approaches to help clients cultivate self-compassion, assertiveness, and a positive self-concept. Through collaborative exploration, Trisha guides clients in identifying and reframing self-limiting beliefs, empowering them to build resilience and confidence in navigating life’s challenges.

Regarding body image, Trisha recognizes the profound impact societal norms and personal experiences can have on how individuals perceive their bodies. She integrates principles of body positivity and mindfulness into her practice, assisting clients in developing a healthier relationship with their bodies. Trisha works sensitively with issues such as body dysmorphia, disordered eating behaviors, and the emotional complexities surrounding body image dissatisfaction. Her therapeutic approach encourages clients to embrace self-acceptance, challenge unrealistic standards, and foster a sense of bodily autonomy and appreciation.

Through her integrative approach and unwavering commitment to client-centered care, Trisha Nelson aims to empower individuals to heal, grow, and thrive in their journey towards mental and emotional well-being. Her belief in the transformative power of therapy underscores her dedication to helping clients navigate trauma, enhance self-esteem, and cultivate a positive body image, ultimately equipping them with the tools to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.
